Cyberbullying and feeling safe on the internet

The popularity of the adult industry has grown massively over the past years. With popularity comes risks. Cybercrime and cyberbullying are one of those risks. The news about Dakota Skye passing away and the fact that she was harassed by abusive online trolls has made us write this blog. Because feeling comfortable and at ease as a content creator is probably one of the most important things.

What is cyberbullying?

Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. The question will always be: why do people do this? What is the added value of bullying someone online?

When your popularity grows, more people most likely will find you online. Getting more and more fans is very exciting. But, if fans do not get what they expected or are not happy with the things they see, they tend to express this in a negative or aggressive way to the content creator. Most cam models and content creators are used to also receiving hateful or negative messages. Some content creators can ignore it for the most part. Unfortunately, there are also girls that are having a hard time putting it aside.

Getting used to hateful messages in the first place is sad to acknowledge, but it’s the truth. So how do you ignore hateful people and abusive trolls? It easier to write about it and give you some tools or tips then to actually take action. If we can help just a handful of people with these tips, then we succeeded already.

Cast out negative people and trolls!

Luckily, it is very easy to block someone on most cam sites and OnlyFans as well. Once someone is acting up and doesn’t stop harassing you, you can block them. If people are dedicated to abuse you, it won’t immediately stop by blocking someone on one or more websites. Make sure that you block someone as soon as possible when the mean commentary starts.

Don’t give them what they want; attention.

When negative comments are posted or send, it can be tempting to respond to it or fight back. We strongly advice not to give in and start feeding their needs, getting attention. By responding, it will trigger someone to say even more hurtful things. We are fully aware of the fact that this is easier saying then doing but trust us. We haven’t heard of situation where the troll or hateful person changed their mind or apologized.

Indulge yourself in positive commentary!

It’s a fact that basically every content creator receives less positive or negative commentary when posting content. Best thing to do is to choose positive commentary over negative ones. How to focus on the positive instead of the negative? Once a day or once a week, whatever works for you, write down the comments that made you most happy and empowered. Read them before you go to sleep and read them again when you wake up. That way, you end your day with a positive vibe and start the next day happy and empowered as well.

Confide is someone.

Does someone say something that you can’t ignore, or some commentary keeps messing with your head? Don’t hide and start talking to someone! Sharing your worries with someone already relieves some have burdens from your shoulders. The other person doesn’t even have to say something, just having someone to talk to helpful. Reach out to other content creators who may experience the same and together you can overcome cyberbullies.
